We all have our own financial goals, ours is to pay off our mortgage, thats a big undertaking so we have to find ways to save money on a weekly basis. We want to do it sooner rather than later so we can enjoy life as a family and not have to scrimp for the next 35 years. We have tightened our belts majorly in the last few years and learnt lots of hints and tips on how to save money. Below I will list you a few of the ways which I’ve saved money this week. No matter how big or small, they make all the difference!
Walk to the shop instead of taking the car
You can become quite lazy when you have a car. It’s so tempting to take a short journey in the car instead of walking like you once would.
We missed a few things off our shopping list at the weekend so I needed to go and get them this morning. Noah was being crabby so I thought instead of doing the 2 minute car journey, I’l save money and take the pushchair instead. Not only will it get me a bit healthier, it will save us money in fuel, help my carbon footprint and give Noah a bit of fresh air! And it worked, after only a few minutes walking he fell asleep and is still snoring now (hence me getting the time to wrote this!) It is definitely something I will be doing more often.
Cutting out junk food
I can be a total sucker for crisps, sweets, chocolate, you name it! I’ve been getting to the point the last few weeks of going through a big chocolate bar a day!
After seeing how much weight I’ve actually put on in the last few months, I decided it’s time to stop! On our shop last week I didn’t buy one single treat, I bought a ton of fruit instead! It’s definitely cheaper to eat healthier if you do it right! Fruit and veg costs next to nothing, and it’s something we can feed Noah too (we don’t give him sugary snacks). By not having treats in the house I’m hoping to shift a couple of stone, and save money too!
Free play days!
So our local kids play venue does free play days on a Tuesday! Its a Wacky Warehouse and it’s got a fabulous little soft play part for babies and toddlers!
I took Noah and my nephew the other day, and they both loved it! Its great to know if your on a budget! A few of the mums there had taken packed lunches and made a day of it which is such a great idea. This could save you so much money over the years. I’m glad I know about it now as I will be able to take Noah more often, After all, these places can be pricey! Its definitely worth checking your local area to see where do free days for kids!
Borrowed toys

Noah is getting to that stage now where he just wants to be playing all the time! If he doesn’t have a toy on his lap he wants to be off, which can be a nightmare when your trying to get things done!
A big way I saved money this week was borrowing some toys off my nan! She has a whole room of them as she has a lot of grandkids. She does buy them all second hand which is very frugal of her! I took a boot full home the other day until Noah gets bored of them, then I will rotate with some of her older kids bits. It saves us both buying twice, and she doesn’t mind at all!
Doing my own beauty!
I was at a christening at the weekend, and I have admittedly been neglecting myself since I’ve had Noah. I’m just too tired to care at the minute about what I look like! (New mum problems!)
Anyway, I realised how bad I looked a couple days beforehand! Jamie insisted I went to get my nails done, bless him, but I simply can’t justify paying £30 anymore since our mindset changed! I decided that instead of paying to get them done, I’l save money and give myself the full works! I dyed my own hair (can’t justify salon prices!), did my own nails with gel polish and a curing lamp I’d bought years ago, did my own eyebrows with a tinting set off Amazon (for the same price as just 1 salon eyebrow tint, yes 1!), and did my own false tan! I can’t deny I felt so much better about myself! And also a million times better about saving money too!
